Wavelengths 3, 5, ...

Nørgård uses the term 'wavelength' in the sense that one selects certain notes in a regular manner, such as every third or every fifth note.

If we remove every third note, a new melodic series arises, and the same applies to every fifth note:
The new series also possess hierarchical qualities, though not quite the same as those of the original series: as in the previous case, every second note series (the new one!) is inverted, and on every fourth note the series appears in its original form. On the other hand, notes 1,3,5,7 (counting from 0) are not the series transposed one step up, nor does every new note re-create the series.
